  9. Microsoft Word 2.0 for Windows to read files
  10. created by Microsoft Word 6.0 for Windows. This
  11. converter is intended for users of Word 2.0 who
  12. don't yet have access to Word 6.0.

  14. If this shipment has arrived in unsatisfactory
  15. condition, please let us know. In the United
  16. States, call the Microsoft Sales Information
  17. Center at (800) 426-9400. Outside the United
  18. States, contact your local Microsoft subsidiary.

  20. To use the converter, follow the setup
  21. instructions included in this letter. If you have
  22. questions about installing or using the converter,
  23. one of our Product Support Services engineers will
  24. be glad to assist you. In the United States call
  25. (206) 462-WORD between 6:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M.
  26. Pacific time. Outside the United States, contact
  27. your local Microsoft subsidiary.

  29. Setup Instructions:

  31. 1. Start Microsoft Windows. 
  32.  
  33. 2. From the Program Manager File menu, choose Run. 
  34.  
  35. 3. Type the following and press ENTER 
  36.  
  37.       <path>\setup 
  38.  
  39.    where <path> is the location of the Word 6.0 or
  40.    Windows File Converter Kit setup files. For
  41.    example: 
  42.  
  43.       c:\winword\setup 
  44.  
  45. 4. Follow the directions in the Word 6.0 for
  46.    Windows File Converter setup program. 
  47.  
  48. Release Notes: 
  49.  
  50.  - This converter will not run under Windows 3.0.
  51.    This is because Word 6.0 for Windows uses
  52.    object linking and embedding (OLE) 2.0 for file
  53.    storage, so several OLE 2.0 files are required
  54.    for the converter to read Word 6.0 for Windows
  55.    files. These OLE files are not guaranteed to
  56.    work under Windows 3.0. 
  57.  
  58.  - Note that those formatting features added in
  59.    Word 6.0 for Windows that did not exist in Word
  60.    2.0 will not be retained in conversion. A
  61.    complete list is included in the file
  62.    WRD6CONV.DOC which is installed with the
  63.    converter.
